SENIORS ACTIVITIES

Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building. Among activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., Arthritis Foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., chair volleyball Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 1:45 p.m.

Also, there are watercolor painting Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 1 p.m. and penny poker, canasta and euchre Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.; walking videos Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., beginning Tai Chi on Thursdays at 9 a.m. and mahjong lessons Wednesdays at 1 p.m.

Seniors golf on Thursdays at about 9 a.m. and alternate between Raccoon Hills and Grantwood courses. Blood pressure and glucose screenings are the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m.

Podiatrist Dr. Lara Poduska also visits the center from time to time. Lunch and music on the patio will be today (June 28) at noon and lunch and bingo at the Avenue at Aurora will be June 30 at 11:30 a.m. A lunch and learn program titled "Dreams Fulfilled: Creating and Achieving Your Bucket List" will be July 24 at noon.

Massage with Susan Lund will be July 10 and 24 and Aug. 14 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Manicures and pedicures by Wanda will be offered July 26 and Aug. 23 from 10 a.m,. to 2 p.m.

The Retired Old Men Eating Out group will go to Applebee's in Streetsboro on July 20 and Ruby Tuesday's in Bainbridge Township on Aug. 17. A chair volleyball tournament will be July 21 at 11 a.m. at Independence Village.

Lunch and music on the patio will be July 26 at noon, an AARP driver safety program will be Aug. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. and a luau at Vista Springs in Macedonia will be Aug. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Trips coming up are: June 29 -- Indians game vs. Texas Rangers; July 9 -- Porthouse Theater for "Ain't Misbehaving'"; July 17 -- lunch bunch at London's Pickle Works in Brecksville; July 19 -- Cleveland Botanical Garden and concert on the oval; July 25 -- Cleveland Institute of Music brown bag concert; July 26 -- Indians game vs. Angels; July 30 -- Porthouse Theater for "Newsies."

July 27 -- pontoon boat ride at Portage Lakes; July 30 -- Porthouse Theater for "Newsies"; July 31 -- shopping at Crocker Park in Westlake; Aug. 2 -- Nautica Queen oldies luncheon cruise; Aug. 14 -- Ethnic market tour of Cleveland; Aug. 16 -- Put-in-Bay; Aug. 20 -- State Theater for "Motown"; Aug. 21 -- lunch bunch at Mangia Mangia; Aug. 23 -- Rocksino; Aug. 24 -- Indians game vs. Red Sox.

The parks-rec department is in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail. Hours are weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
