Aurora -- The AHS girls soccer team added two wins last week -- 1-0 over Kenston and 3-0 over Medina Highland -- and lost 2-0 to Solon.
The squad stood 6-2-1 (3-0 in the Suburban League) heading into this week's action.
"This game interestingly caused us a great deal of trouble in terms of controlling the ball and generating any kind of rhythm," said AHS coach Jerry Shutway about the Kenston win.
Senior Jenna Geier scored the lone goal 20 minutes into the first half, and sent other dangerous passes across the Bomber goal.
Midfielders senior Courtney Wendel, junior Kaleen Girman and sophomores Nicole Doemling, Taylor Burick and Sarah Nemeth fought hard for dominance and junior goal keeper Olivia Conces racked up her second shutout of the season .
About the Highland game, Shutway said, "It was perhaps our best display of versatility and team spirit this season. Highland has a very wide field and it helped us find opportunities to attack from many positions."
Aurora's goals were by sophomore Sami Richards with an assist from Taylor Burrick, a free kick by Geier and senior Courtney Wendel with an assist by Natalie Picone.
About the loss to Solon, Shutway said, "It gave us a great look at what we need to work on in terms of speed of play and gamesmanship."
Geier sent several threatening shots and crosses to the Comets' goal back pos. Solon scored a goal in each half.
The Greenmen will face Revere on Sept. 22 at home. "We think Revere will be our toughest game of the season," said Shutway. Both teams are 3-0 in the league, and the championship could be on the line.
