Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building.
Among activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., Arthritis Foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., chair volleyball Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 1:45 p.m., watercolor painting Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 1 p.m. and penny poker, canasta and euchre Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.
Also, walking videos Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., beginning Tai Chi on Thursdays at 9 a.m. and mahjong lessons Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
Some other activities are blood pressure and glucose screening clinics the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. and seniors golf Thursdays through October at about 9 a.m. at Raccoon Hill or Oak Knolls golf courses.
A presentation about “The Early Days of Dorothy Fuldheim and TV 5” will be given Sept. 14 at noon by a former TV cameraman, while a flu and pneumonia shot clinic will be Sept. 21. Massage with Susan Lund will be Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The next birthday potluck will be Sept. 26 at noon, an Octoberfest luncheon will be Sept. 28 at noon and a lunch and learn program will be Oct. 3 at noon.
The Retired Old Men Eating Out group will visit Rush Hour Grill in Twinsburg on Sept. 15 and Jim’s Open Kitchen in Streetsboro on Oct. 13.
A Halloween luncheon will be Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. and men can hear a presentation about advanced directives with Gerri McGonagle of Great Lakes Caring on Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
Trips coming up are: Sept. 19 — lunch bunch to Sokowlowski’s; Sept. 20 — Mather and USS Cod tours; Sept. 22 — Mentor on the Lake and Pickle Bills; Sept. 25 — State Theater for “Jersey Boys”; Sept. 27 — wineries and Steel Mansion tour; Sept. 29 — Cuyahoga Valley train ride from Akron to Peninsula.
Oct. 6 — Palace Theater for “Fun Home”; Oct. 7 — Ohio Mart premier craft show at Stan Hywett; Oct. 10 — Lakeview Cemetery; Oct. 12 — Rutherford B. Hayes Center in Fremont; Oct. 14 — Scioto Downs Casino in Columbus; Oct. 17 — lunch bunch at Ray’s Place in Kent.
The parks-rec department is in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail. Hours are weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
