Aurora -- The Greenmen girls golf squad has three key players back this season or the 2016 season after finishing fourth in the Suburban League last fall.
They are seniors Gia Leone and Brittany Griffen and junior Kenzi Myers.
The golf team competed in the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders Invitational last week at the Fairways at Twin Lakes, finishing second in the morning flight. There also was an afternoon flight.
The Greenmen posted a score of 368, 6 strokes behind Kent Roosevelt's JV squad. Leone fired an 87, followed by Meyers' 88, while Griffin was at 89, Skyler Banbury at 104 and Olivia Traci at 111.
"We have a full varsity and JV lineup," said coach Noah Goodman. "The team is made up of 17 girls ranging from those who have played for years to those who are in their first year.
"We look to be competitive from start to finish, and many of the girls have put in work over the summer and look to capitalize when the season starts.
"Last season was our first in the Suburban League and we learned a lot in order to be competitive with different teams.
"The Lady Greenmen return key players who contributed at different times through the season. One factor that can't be measured is the leadership shown and the bond these girls have with one another."
Tim Baczkowski is the team's assistant coach.
