For one half, Twinsburg football played backyard rival Aurora to a tie.
In the second half, however, Aurora was able to pull away.
After the game was tied 13-13 at the half, Aurora outscored Twinsburg 21-0 in the second half to score a 34-13 win over the Tigers Aug. 29 at Twinsburg Tiger Stadium.
Twinsburg struck first, thanks to a 36-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Randy Tucker to Darius Jones on the Tigers' first drive.
After Aurora answered with a three-yard touchdown run from quarterback Alex Smierciak, Tucker threw his second touchdown of the night.
This time, on a fourth-down play, Tucker found running back Noah Edwards in the end zone from 23 yards out. However, Aurora blocked the extra point to make it 13-7.
Aurora answered with another three-yard touchdown run from Smierciak, but missed the extra point, sending the game to halftime at 13-13.
Smierciak went 3-of-8 for 28 yards through the air and also had 15 rushes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
In the second half, Aurora's ground-based offense got to work.
The Greenmen got rushing touchdowns from Austin Piunno (17 yards) and Ryan Devine (1 yard) in third quarter, as well as a 17-yard touchdown run from Nick Settecase in the fourth quarter.
Aurora finished with a 258-71 edge in rushing yards, led by Ben Nelson with 12 carries for 82 yards.
Deyonte Groce led the Tigers with 49 rushing yards on nine carries.
