Final playoff games in the parks and recreation department's summer coed adult softball league are scheduled for tonight (Aug. 6), while final games in the men's Friday night league are slated for Aug. 8.

Palma nabs 1st in run
Aurora resident Michela Palma, 17, finished the Dave Giambrone 5K in Streetsboro as the first-place overall woman. Her time was 21:47. The race was in conjunction with the annual Streetsboro Family Days.
In the Winking Lizard's Shot in the Dark 4-miler, Auroran Rick Clary was second in men 45-49 in 25:21. Julia Riley of Aurora was 13th in women 50-54 in 39:18.47.
Wigs For Kids 5K run

Several Aurora residents competed in the Wigs For Kids 5K Run recently in Cleveland. Here are the results:
Men 14 and under -- Zachary Elsawy, second in 22:56.2; Luke Calder, fourth in 24:23.1; Jimmy Mehallis, fifth in 24:29.9; Derek Blum, sixth in 25:48.5; and James Robinson, ninth in 29:46.3; women 14 and under -- Caroline Siedel, second in 23:47.2; Elizabeth Keller, third in 23:49.6; Julia Robinson, fifth in 28:15; Adrienne Crasi, 19th in 35:51.2; Katelyn Sesny, 28th in 48:19.2; and Jordan Parks, 29th in 48:20.4.

am-am golf tourney
Two teams of local golfers participated in the R.C. Miller Memorial Pro-Pro-Am-Am tournament July 28 at Alliance Country Club.
Pros Katie Jenior and Gus Mehallis teamed with amateurs Jim Harless and Aaron Smigelski in a tie for seventh place at 4-under-par 136, while pros Gary Trivisonno and Mike Pickett teamed with amateurs Larry Lahnan and Tom Laubacher to finish in a tie for 10th at 137.
Meanwhile, three local golfers participated in the Northern Ohio Golf Association's Summer Stroke Play Championship. In the senior flight, Rick Areddy was second with a 5-over-par 76, Harless tied for 15th at 85 and Ed Taber was 18th at 89.

The Sequoia Wellness Bookin It 5K is coming up Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown. The Perfect 10-miler will be Aug. 10 in Lyndhurst. For details, visit www.hmapromotions.net.

Sloe 10th, Burns 8th
in Novak tournament
Christopher Sloe of Aurora placed 10th in the annual Kenny Novak Memorial Golf Tournament finals at Club Walden last week, shooting a 36-hole total of 81-80-161.
In the boys 13-15 division, John Burns of Aurora shot 82 to tie for eighth place in a field of 16. Sloe and Burns were the only two competitors from Aurora.
Winners in the various age groups were: Shane Hoben of Akron, Nick Tisch of Smithville and Brian Irish of Painesville (149), boys 16-19; Kaitlyn Neumann of Valley City (152), girls 16-19; Alyssa Drehs of Seville (79), girls 13-15; Jared Wilson of Columbiana (73), boys 13-15; Donovan Morris (92), boys 11-12; and Iris Shin (90), girls 11-12.
