Trivisonno top local golfer
in 93rd annual Ohio Open
Three Aurora and / or Reminder-ville golfers completed all three rounds of the 93rd Minute Men Ohio Open held June 30-July 2.
Aurora pro Gary Trivisonno was the highest finisher, tied for 21st with a 3-under-par 211, while Reminderville pro resident Mark Sierak and Reminderville amateur Dennis Holub tied for 59th at 210.
Missing the cut for the  final round were Aurora pro Mitch Camp, who shot 146 for two rounds; Aurora amateur Bud Radis (151); and Aurora amateur Tyler McHugh (154).
Tim Allies of Lewis Center won the tournament in a two-hole playoff over Kevin Hall of Cincinnati. Both finished their three rounds at 11-under-par 201.

Two amateur tournaments
are seeking area linksters
Area golfers can register for the 2014 editions of the Portage County Amateur and Junior Amateur.
The 7th Matt Mishler Junior Portage County Amateur will tee off July 21-22 with divisions for 12 and under, 13 to 15 and 16 to 19 for both boys and girls.
The 84th Record-Courier Amateur and Senior Amateur is set for July 26-27, with open, senior men, gold men, platinum men, women and senior women divisions.
Registration forms may be picked up at host courses Oak Knolls Golf Club and Windmill Lakes Golf Club or copied on the Facebook page Golf for the Record-Courier Portage County Amateurs as well as at www.neohgolf.com.

Six Aurorans in area runs
In the Little Fat 5K run recently, John Adomaites of Aurora placed third in men 45-49 in 26:21.6.
In the Run for the Hills in Macedonia, Aurora resident Jenna Krivonic placed seventh in women 25-29 in 30:46.8, while Erin Sykora placed 16th in women 35-39 in 36:44.2, Danielle Kilroy was seventh in women 40-44 in 33:34.1, James Frajter was second in men 55-59 in 26:42.9, Mark Muroski was second in men 60 and older in 35:06.8 and Joan Kassan was second in women 60 and older in 42:00.3.

More runs are coming up
Distance runs coming up include the Run 4 the Ages on July 12 in Chardon and the 25th annual Debbie Hudacko Memorial Hat Trick Run on July 13 in Mayfield Village. For details, visit www.hmapromotions.net.

Mantua triathlon planned
Roundup Lake on Route 82 in Mantua Township will have a twilight triathlon on July 12 at 6 p.m.
The super sprint starts at 6 p.m. and features a 250-yard swim, 6.5-mile bicycle trek and 1.5-mile run. The sprint division starts at 6:30 and features a 500-yard swim, 13-mile bicycle trek and 5K run.

Youths in Novak qualifer
A handful of Aurora junior golfers participated in the Kenny Novak qualifier July 3 at Big Met. Christopher Sloe tied for 14th in boys 16-19 with an 8-over-par 80. Asia Ler-ner was 16th in girls 16-19 at 96, while in the boys 13-15 division, John Burns tied for 6 at 79 and Michael Avalon tied for 27th at 100.
Summer softball closing
According to the city parks-rec website, two more weeks of regular season action are scheduled in the adult coed and men’s Friday night softball leagues. After games tonight and July 16 and July 11 and 18 are finished, playoffs will start.
 Fall adult softball leagues begin Aug. 12 and 15, with registration for Tuesday night men and Friday coed play being July 25 for returning teams and Aug. 1 for new teams.
