Aurora High qualifies relay team, pole vaulter for regional meet

After the first day of competitive in the Division I district track meet at Austintown Fitch, Aurora High's girls had scored 9 points (sixth place) and the boys had scored 7 (ninth place).

The girls 4x800 relay team of Deanna Calder, Shelby Adler, Olivia Grohe and Samantha Grohe finished fourth to qualify for the regional meet next week.

Maria Mims picked up 4 points with her fifth-place finish in the high jump.

For the boys, Dominic Roberto took third in the pole vault to earn 6 points and qualify for the regional meet, and Brian Kingure took eighth place to record one point.

A handful of individuals and relay teams from Aurora also qualified for Friday's finals. Friday compeitition also will include some events which do not have preliminaries.
