Various programs — Many recreational and community education programs are offered by the city’s parks-recreation department.
Among them are learn to roller skate, inline roller skating, driver education, youth and adult sports, dancing and fitness, stop smoking seminars, youth camps, dog obedience, gardening and home improvement.

Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail in front of Aurora High School.
Programs include computer classes, wellness checks, breakfast and lunch outings, speakers, theme parties, arthritis exercise, health screenings and card games.
Among specific activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., Arthritis Foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 2 p.m.
Also, penny poker Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., canasta Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., walking videos Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., watercolor painting Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and beginning Tai Chi on Thursdays at 9 a.m.
Tec Tuesdays run through May at Harmon School on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. for those needing help with laptops, digital cameras, tablets, phones and e-readers.
A lunch and learn program is planned June 2 (Tips to stay healthy in the summertime). It starts at noon. The ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out) will visit Brewsters in Twinsburg on June 18.
A birthday potluck and bingo will be June 9 at noon (six months of birthdays celebrated), and lunch and music on the patio at the Walker Building will be June 25, July 30 and Aug. 27 at noon.
Trips coming up are: May 22 — Hartville Flea Market and Hartville Kitchen; May 28 — Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland; May 30 — Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall; June 5 — Shaker Museum and Larchmere shopping/dining and Weathervane Playhouse for “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”; June 10 — Holden Arboretum; June 11 — Warther’s trains and boats and lunch at an Amish home.
June 12 — Allen Theater for “Maurice Hines Tappin’ Through Life”; June 15 — Porthouse Theater for “My Fair Lady”; June 17 — lunch bunch at Tinkers Creek Tavern; June 18 — Rivers Casino; June 19 — Cleveland Indians game; June 23 — Wagon Trail Animal Farm; July 6 — Porthouse Theater for “Starmites”; July 9 — Ashtabula Maritime Museum, shopping and dining at Geneva on the Lake.
The parks-rec department is in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail. Hours are weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
