The Aurora Greenmen (17-7) defeated the Twinsburg Tigers 4-2 in the Division 1 Struthers sectional baseball tournament finals today (May 16).
Aurora sophomore A.J. Kimes pitched a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) and giving uponly three hits. His season record is now 5-1.
Aurora's offense was paced by junior Nick Ely, who had two hits and a stolen base. Freshman Bubba Arslanian had a key bases loaded, two-run single to give Aurora the lead in the bottom of the fourth.
The Greenmen move on to the district semifinals May 19 against Warren Howland at Cene Park in Struthers.
Meanwhile, the Greenmen softball team topped Warren Howland 3-0 in the Division I Solon sectional finals to advance to the district semifinals against either Kent Roosevelt, Warren Harding or Austintown Fitch.
Aurora ace — junior Nichole Doyle — was the winning pitcher, and also drove in two runs.
The next game is scheduled for May 21 at 4 p.m. at Roxbury Elementary School in Solon.
