Aurora baseball team splits; boys 6th, girls 5th in track meet

On a 70-degree and sunny day Saturday, the Aurora Greenmen varsity baseball team split a doubleheader with non-league foe Solon, losing the first game 5-3 and winning the second 3-0.

A.J. Kimes was the losing pitcher in the first game and Luke Calcei was the winner in the second game.

The Greenmen are now 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the Chagrin Valley Conference. In last wek's action, they split two games against CVC opponent Orange.

Meanwhile, the Aurora High boys track team placed sixth and the girls were fifth out of eighth teams in the Kenston Relays on Friday afternoon.

The baseball team is scheduled to be in action next on Wednesday (April 16) at home against St. Edward. The track teams are scheduled to travel to Perry for a dual meet on Tuesday (April 15).

After a doubleheader against Uniontown Lake was canceled on Saturday, the varsity softball team is scheduled to host Independence in CVC play on Monday (April 14), but forecasters call for rain that day.

The softballers have played only two games this season and stand 1-1 (1-0 in the CVC).
