Various programs — Many recreational and community education programs are offered by the city’s parks-recreation department.
Among them are learn to roller skate, inline roller skating, driver education, youth and adult sports, dancing and fitness, stop smoking seminars, youth camps, dog obedience, gardening and home improvement.
Jim Marzullo offers self-defense sessions Feb. 8, March 22 and April 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The sessions are open to Aurora and surrounding residents.
Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail in front of AHS.
Starting this month, non-residents must pay a $5 annual fee to receive the bi-monthly seniors newsletter and will be charged an additional $1 per person for each trip offered.
Programs include bingo, computer classes, wellness checks, knitting, arthritis exercise, Silver Sneakers, health screenings, card games, chair volleyball, breakfast and lunch outings, speakers and theme parties.
Among activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., chair volleyball Thursdays at 11:30 a.m., arthritis foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., blood pressure clinics the second Tuesday of each month from 10 to 10:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 1 p.m. and penny poker Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.

Walking videos are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. and watercolor painting is Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. Tec Tuesdays will run through May at Harmon School for those needing help with laptops, digital cameras, tablets, phones and e-readers.
A Valentine’s Day luncheon will be today (Feb. 12) at noon. The Retired Old Men Eating Out group will visit Papous Tap and Grill on Feb. 18. A lunch and learn program titled “Science and Spirituality Reconciled” will be Feb. 27 and March 5 at 11 a.m.

March 6 — “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Palace Theater; March 10 — Spire Institute; March 12 — lunch at Pufferbelly in Kent; March 13 — The Lettermen at Packard Music Hall in Warren; March 19 — brown bag concert at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cleveland; March 26 — Cleveland Museum of Art; March 27 — “Life With Father” at Weathervane Playhouse.
