Sectional hoops contests

are played at higher seed

A new format will be used this year for the sectional tournaments in girls and boys basketball, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Similar to football, soccer, baseball and softball, the higher seed will have the opportunity to host sectional games instead of playing at a neutral site like has been done for decades.

The Northeast District Athletic Board will assign dates, times and officials, and it is the responsibility of the designated home site to make the date and time work and then administrate the contests.

Sectional/district tournament drawings will be conducted Feb. 3 for girls and Feb. 10 for boys. Ice hockey tourney drawings also will be conducted this weekend.
