FROM STAFF REPORTS

Aurora -- The inexperienced Lady Greenmen varsity hoops squad continues to work to improve under head coach Erika Greenberg. Aurora is 1-9 overall and 1-2 in the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division.

Aurora lost to South Range 54-33 on Dec. 23 at home. The Raiders jumped out to a 21-9 first quarter lead and never looked back.

"I think the first quarter really hurt us and they [the Raiders] came out strong," said Greenberg. "We are playing hard, but need to work on being more consistent."

Sophomore Maria Mims was outstanding for Aurora with 13 points. Freshman April Davis added 9 points.

Freshman forward Syarra Sellers recently came back from an injury to score 7 points in Aurora's 47-32 loss on Dec. 21 at Cuyahoga Heights.

Greenberg will continue to look for improvement and consistency from her squad in the new year.

The squad was scheduled to take on Ravenna on Dec. 30, but results were not available at press time. Back-to-back non-league games are on tap Jan. 3 against Glenville and Jan. 4 against Hawken, both at home. The first game starts at 7:30 p.m. and the second game at a rare 12:30 p.m.
