Various programs — Many recreational and community education programs are offered by the city’s parks-recreation department.
Among them are learn to roller skate, inline roller skating, driver education, youth and adult sports, dancing and fitness, stop smoking seminars, youth camps, dog obedience, gardening and home improvement.
Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail in front of AHS.
Starting January 2014, non-residents must pay a $5 annual fee to receive the bi-monthly seniors newsletter and will be charged an additional $1 per person for each trip offered.
Programs include bingo, computer classes, wellness checks, knitting, arthritis exercise, Silver Sneakers, health screenings, card games, chair volleyball, breakfast and lunch outings, speakers and theme parties.
Among activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., chair volleyball Thursdays at 11:30 a.m., arthritis foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., blood pressure clinics the second Tuesday of each month from 10 to 10:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 1 p.m. and penny poker Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.

Walking videos are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. and watercolor painting is Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. Tec Tuesdays will run through May 2014 at Harmon School for those needing help with laptops, digital cameras, tablets, phones and e-readers.
The Retired Old Men Eating Out will visit Chicago Deli today (Dec. 18), a birthday potluck will be Dec. 23 at noon and massage with Susan Lund also is Dec. 23.
Trips coming up are: Jan. 9 — “Hello Dolly” at E.J. thomas Hall in Akron; Jan. 13 — lunch bunch to PF Chang’s; Jan. 15 — Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; Jan. 16 — Akron Art Museum; Jan. 20 — dinner group to Burnt Wood Tavern; Jan. 22 — Northfield Racino; Jan. 23 — Allen Theater for “Yentl.”
