Fellenstein proves hot on lanes

Aurora's Bill Fellenstein had a good week on area lanes. In the BMR Classic Trio league at Twin Star Lanes in Kent, he had a high game of 290, while in the Perrin Asphalt league at Kent Lanes, he rolled the high series of 702.

Pair of schools seek coaches

A couple of nearby schools are looking for coaches for upcoming seasons.

Kenston needs varsity assistant and freshman football coaches. A cover letter and resume should be sent to head coach Jeff Grubich at coachgrubich@hotmail.com. The deadline is April 1.

Hudson seeks a head boys soccer coach and assistant coaches for boys lacrosse and girls soccer. Apply online at www.hudson.edu and submit a resume and letter of interest to Athletic Director Ray Ebersole at ebersoler@hudson.edu or mail to 2500 Hudson-Aurora Road, Hudson 44236.

Kent State men defeat Loyola;

women lose two more games

Kent State University's men's basketball team (15-12) won a Bracketbuster game 70-63 over Loyola-Chicago on Feb. 23. Chris Evans had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Kris Brewer had 14 points, Randal Holt 13 and Darren Goodson 12.

Meanwhile, the Kent State women continued one of their worst seasons in recent history (3-23 overall, 1-12 in the Mid-American Conference) with losses to Ohio University 61-55 and Akron 77-71. It was OU's first MAC victory of the season.

Against OU, KSU was led by Tamzin Barroilhet's 15 points, Leslie Schaefer's 12 and Ashley Evans' 11. Against Akron, Barroilhet had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Evans also had 19 points and Trisha Krewson and Diamon Beckford had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

KSU's men host Buffalo tonight (Feb. 27) at 7, play at Miami on March 2 and host Bowling Green on Feb. 5 zat 7 p.m. The women travel to Miami on Feb. 28 and Buffalo on March 3 and host Bowling Green on Feb. 6.

Reverse raffle tickets available

A reminder to Aurora schools' athletic supporters that the annual All-Sports Boosters reverse raffle will be March 9 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Aurora Golf Club.

Cost to attend the event is $130 per couple for two dinners, one chance and two drink tickets, $85 for one dinner, one chance and one drink ticket and $40 for a chance only.

Grand prize is $2,000. Tickets are available at the Aurora athletic office at 330-954-2008, Mazzulo's Market in Aurora or from Jennifer at 216-403-1804.

ABL board will gather March 3

The board of the Aurora Baseball League will meet March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Howard Hanna community room at Barrington Town Square. Officials remind parents that online registrations conclude March 31.
