Harmon matmen fare well at tourney

Aurora -- Fourteen Harmon School wrestlers competed in the recent Chardon Hilltopper B tournament, an event designed to get first-year and B wrestlers more matches. Ten schools competed.

Harmon posted a 31-14 record. Going undefeated were Jacob Loudon, Zach Jenkins, Max Keilin and Patrick Windsor, while Karson Lund, Michael Carrasco, Mason Copley and Max Blakeway showed courage and improvement.

Meanwhile, top wrestlers from the week of Jan. 7-12 were Ryan Scantland and Matt Crissman, as Harmon beat West Geauga 51-30 and Kenston 59-18.

Loudon started off the West G. match with a first period pin, followed by pins by Dan Droder and Dom Stuber. Scantland claimed a 9-6 decision and Jordan Pollard and Caleb Tinsley won by pin, while Will Lovell, Bubba Arslanian and J.T. Rose picked up forfeits.

Other wrestling scrappy matches were Drew McVay, Jenkins, Robby Albrecht, Nate Smierciak and Kain Beaston.

In extra matches, Harmon won 9 of 13 with victories by Keilin, Crissman, Nate Whitelaw, Connor Bizjak, Max Blakeway, Virgil Glorioso, Jimmy Kish and Gavan Baker.

Winning matches against Kenston were Albrecht, Stuber, Scantland, Smierciak, Pollard, Lovell, Arslanian, Rose, Beaston and Tinsley.

Six teams were scheduled to participate in the Harmon duals on Jan. 19 at Aurora High School.
