AHS swimmers lose to Kenston

Aurora -- The Greenmen swimmers went down to defeat to Kenston in a dual meet Dec. 21 at the Hiram College pool. The boys lost 101-82 and the girls lost 114-71.

Broc Miller was a two-event winner for the boys in the 100 butterfly (1:04.84) and 100 backstroke ( 1:08.29).

Other first-place finishes were as follows: Brock Nelson in the 200 intermediate medley (2:37.3), Natalia Nelson in diving (124.57 points), Austin Hayes in the 100 freestyle (58.89), Taylor Mahle in the 400 free (5:08.79), and the boys 400 free relay of Hayes, Anthony Nedelka, Nelson and Miller (4:09.38).

Taking second place for the boys were: the 200 medley relay of Miller, Nelson, Brian Wessels and A. Hayes; Brandon Hayes in the 200 free; A. Hayes in the 50 free; Nolan Honsaker in diving; Josh Friedler in the 400 free; the 200 free relay of Wessels, Mahle, B. Hayes and Nedelka; and Nelson in the 100 breaststroke.

Second for the girls were: Alexandra Hayes in the 200 free; the 200 medley relay of Jessica Ramsey, Kelly Fussner, Alyssa Mahle and Lauren Steele; B. Hayes in the 200 free; Steele in the 100 butterfly; the 200 free relay of Fussner, Hannah Brezovec, Hannah Haughey and Hayes; Haughey in the 100 backstroke; and the 400 free relay of Haughey, Mahle, Brezovec and Steele.

Taking third for the boys were: Mahle in 200 free; Mathew Winkler in diving; Anthony Nedelka in 100 butterfly; Zach Nutting in 100 free; the 100 free relay of Henry Young, Jake Miller, Chris Sloe and Jake Glockner; B. Hayes in 100 backstroke; and 400 free relay of B. Hayes, Ricky Vincik, Friedler and Mahle.

Third for the girls were: Mahle in 200 IM and 100 butterfly; Brezovec in 50 free; Hayes in 400 free; the 200 free relay of Cameron Goldston, Ramsey, Sammie Nutting and Kelsey Kalinowksi; Ramsey in 1`00 backstroke; Fussner in 100 breaststroke; and the 400 free relay of Kalinowski, Goldston, Jenny Young and Hayes.

The boys and girls teams will compete Dec. 29 at the Cloverleaf Stampede meet at Wooster High School.
