Society Notes-July 5

THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Aurora Historical Society has scheduled its annual picnic for July 16 at the Moebius Nature Center on East Mennonite Road. Social hour begins at 3 p.m., followed by dinner at 4.

The menu will include pulled pork or chopped brisket, cole slaw, potato salad, ranch beans and macaroni and cheese. Food is provided by Hickory River Barbecue in Aurora.

Persons with last names beginning with A to L should take a dessert and those with last names beginning with M to Z should take an appetizer.

Cost is $15 per person for adults and $5 for children age 12 and younger. Children under 3 are free. Society members are welcome to bring a guest or two.

Reservations are due by July 10 to Katie Trook, 141 Millpond Road, Aurora 44202 or www.aurorahistorical.org. Checks should be made payable to the Aurora Historical Society.

 

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Aurora's 2017 Drive-It-Yourself Tour will take place July 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A grand finale and prize drawing will be from 3 to 4 p.m. at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets.

Tour stops on this self-directed driving tour will consist of a variety of participating businesses. A map will list the stops and include a brief description of a giveaway, unique sale, or activity that will be available only during the tour.

Participants will select to visit, and have their map stamped at, a minimum of 10 locations to be eligible to win prizes at the conclusion of the event.

Maps must be submitted by 3:30 pm to enter the drawing. Only maps with a minimum of 10 stamps will be eligible to win, and the winner must be present.

A limited number of tour stops will be selected.

 

AURORA ROTARY CLUB

The Rotary Club of Aurora's meetings are at 7:30 a.m. at the Aurora Inn (Cutting Board) on the first, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, and at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. Guests are always welcome and encouraged to join the group for a complimentary breakfast to see what it is all about. Kathi Grandillo is this year's president.
