The "State of the City" Chamber of Commerce meeting will take place Feb. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bertram Hotel and Conference Center.
Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin and Schools Superintendent Pat Ciccantelli will speak about what's going on in the city and schools.
Prepaid reservations are required at $25 per Chamber member, $35 for a non-member and a $5 late fee after Feb. 16 if seating is available. Register at www.allaboutaurora.com. The Chamber will be one of several hosts of a Portage County Business Roundtable on Feb. 23 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown.
University Hospitals Portage Medical Center's new Chief Operating Officer William Benoit will discuss the current and future happenings of UH Portage Medical Center, as well as resources available to the community.
Cost is $10 (cash or check only), and a continental breakfast will be served.
ROTARY OF AURORA
The Rotary Club of Aurora will welcome its Aurora and Streetsboro students of the month to its Feb. 15 meeting at the Aurora Inn.
A Rotary Foundation gala will be March 3, with Feb. 22 as the deadline to register, and a fifth Wednesday evening social / game night will be March 29.
Other coming events are: April 8 -- District 4-Way Test speech contest at Aurora High; April 21-23 -- district 6630 conference at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Fall; and April 30 -- A Taste of the Western Reserve at Signature of Solon.
Meetings on the first, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month are at 7:30 a.m., while the second Wednesday is at 6 p.m. Costs are $9 for a breakfast meeting and $14 for an evening session.
Brandon and Nicole LaFontaine of Ravenna announce the birth of their son Brandon Lee LaFontaine Jr. on Jan. 5 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces.
The newborn has siblings Kylee, 12, and Trevor, 9. His grandparents are Denise Marion of Aurora and Daniel and Sherrie Marion of Parma and Doug and Darlene LaFontaine of Aurora.
Great-grandparents are William and Phyllis Corlett of Chagrin Falls and Pat and Patricia Marion of Strongsville.
