AHS 1983 CLASS REUNION
During Aurora High School’s recent Homecoming, the class of 1983 marked it’s 30th reunion with several fun-filled events. The weekend started with classmates participating in a pre-game walk on the track, with the 1983 banner. Leading the way were Kim Goddard and Dawn Marie Young Kelly, who did a few cartwheels.
After the game, classmates joined other alumni at Doogan’s. Saturday began with a morning tour of the high school, and some classmates took played golf at Grantwood in the afternoon.
More than 65 alumni and their guests attended the evening event held in the Garfield Rooms at the Bertram Inn. The emcee for the evening was Doug Hamilton and the blessing was lead by Mary Jurkiewicz Beckstrom. Music was provided by Johnny Live.
Door prizes were given throughout the evening. Alumni were happy to reminisce with former teacher and head football coach Jeff Black. Both the East (Massachusetts) and West (California) coasts were respectively represented by David Kowalski and Debby Leighton.
Other states represented included Florida (Goddard, Kathy Hunter Dowd, Jim Hurst, Randy Lindberg and Chris Miller), Illinois (Karen Albert Smith), Iowa (Mark Grandee), Michigan (Derrick Woods Storm), Missouri (Hedva Barenholtz Levy), New Jersey (Byron Spruell) and North Carolina (Doug Brown and John Gregg).
Plans are already in the works for the next reunion.
The 30-year class reunion committee was comprised of Jenny Wiltrout Starinsky, Dawn Marie Young Kelly, Andrea Honeywell Peters, Doug Hamilton, Krissy Geyer Sasala, Mary Jurkiewicz Beckstrom and Julie Evans.
