AURORA STUDY CLUB
The Oct. 16 meeting of the Aurora Study Club will be one of the most popular programs -- the annual style show and luncheon.
Toni In Style of Chagrin Falls will present fall and holiday fashions, and some of the models will be Aurora Study Club members. The event will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in Twinsburg. A cash bar will be open at 11:30 and lunch will be served at noon.
Reservations for this event were closed at the end of September.
The Nov. 20 meeting will feature Eva Holmes, who will speak on "My Teenage Years under the Nazi Regime in Germany."
Eva is the sister of Peter Ertle, who spoke to the group last year about his experiences in the Nazi German Army. The meeting will be at 1 p.m. in the Church in Aurora's fellowship hall. Guests are welcome.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Marcus Glover, senior vice president and general manager of Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland, will speak at a 3Chamber networking luncheon Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Signature of Solon.
The event involves Chamber members from Aurora, Twinsburg Solon. Horseshoe is the $350 million casino development in downtown Cleveland's historic Higbee building. Glover will talk about how the development impacts Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

Meanwhile, members of the Aurora Chamber are invited to a business after hours Oct. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Atrium at Anna Maria. A ribbon cutting will be at 5 p.m. The facility is at Route 43 and Treat Road. Beverages and hors d'oeurves will be available.
GREAT DECISIONS GROUP
Each year at the Walden clubhouse, the Great Decisions Group meets once a week for eight weeks to view a video and then discuss one of eight topics of interenatioinal significance to the United States.
Each member purchases a briefing book published by the Foreign Policy Association. Topics for 2014 are "Defense Technology," "Israel," "Turkey," "Islamic Awakening," "Energy Independence," "Food and Climate," "China's Foreign Policy" and "U.S. Trade Policy."
The 2014 sessions will begin Feb. 20, but interested participants should order the briefing book by Oct. 19. The cost is $19, including shipping handling. Books ordered after Oct. 20 will cost $20, plus shipping and handling.

Steven and Natalie Mowry of Aurora are parents of Marielle Ann Mowry, who was born Sept. 27 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
The family also consists of their dog, Rocco. Maternal grandparents are Roger and MaryAnn Kreps of Boardman. Paternal grandfather is Fred Mowry of Boardman, and great-grandmother is Pauline Mowry of Canton.
