Dick and Sue Mansell of Aurora recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party at Sunny Lake Park. They were married Aug. 17, 1963 at St. Philomina Church in East Cleveland.
Shortly after having their present home built by Manny Barenholtz in Four Seasons in 1964, they became members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Their four children -- Jennifer, Mark, Kathleen Wagner and Elizabeth, all graduates of Aurora High School, decorated for the anniversary party and prepared a large roast beef in Sue's oven.
Cousin Dennis Mansell, who was celebrating his 50th class reunion at Berea High School, and his wife Bonnie attended from New Mexico, along with more than 40 friends, relatives and neighbors.
Among others on hand were Dick's uncle Bill's son Terry Mahoney and wife Sandy from Meadville, Pa., the Mansells' best man and Dick's fraternity brother from Kent State, Danny Hottois, and wife Arlene, and Sue's sister and matron of honor Kay Wilson.
Other attendees were Marge and Chuck Godale, Diane Brubaker, Nicki Clinger, Hunter Wagner, Harold and Judy Hartridge, Jim and Carrol Fenger, Patty Mansell, Marty Lou and John Ross, Mike Carroll, Ray Wilson, Scott Bratton, Nicarus Wright, Savannah Carroll, Melissa Fitzwater, Lynn and Bill Shaltunuk, Mary and John Melich and Bruce Carroll.
