AURORA -- It is a homecoming of sorts for David Martino, the new pastor at Aurora Mennonite Church. Having grown up in western Pennsylvania, right outside of Youngs-town, and with family living near Aurora, Martino felt called to the area.

Now that another school year has ended and summer is almost here, the vacation Bible school season is in full swing, with many Aurora churches offering week-long sessions. The Church in Aurora got the season started in early June.
Seniors go to play The senior fellowship at Aurora Mennonite Church will travel to Sugarcreek on June 20 to see a play. The seniors visited Mennonite Central Committee in Kidron recently to assemble 635 school kits. They were placed in shipping boxes to be distributed around the world.
Auction is June 10 Aurora Mennonite Church's 35th annual missions auction will be June 10, with setup slated for June 8. The food booth part of the auction is in need of some food donations such as chopped tomatoes, heads of lettuce, ranch dressing, etc. If you can help out, see Susan.
Feast day coming Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Aurora will have a parish feast day celebration JUne 25 at 10:30 a.m. with an outdoor Mass and spaghetti dinner recognizing Sister Lu Haidnik’s 20th anniversary of ministry at the parish.
L of L communion eyed On April 9, a group of fifth-graders at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge will experience Holy Communion for the first time. In the Lutheran church, there are two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism generally occurs as an infant.
Confirmation set Confirmation practice for all candidates and their sponsors at Our Lady of Perpetual Help will be March 12 after the 11 a.m. Mass in the church. Candidates must turn in their "Reflection on and Evaluation of Confirmation Preparation" document no later than practice.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Aurora will present a Lenten Day of Reflection with the director of Little Rock Scripture Study -- Cacki Upchurch -- on March 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A morning session "Lost and Forgotten, Clothed and Dignified" will be presented at 10 a.m.
Pick up your subsMembers of the Church in Aurora who ordered Super Bowl Sunday sub sandwiches can pick them up Feb. 5 after either service in the fellowship hall. The sale benefits the workcampers, who received considerable support from the Aurora Farms Subway shop.
Moms night nears A moms night out for members and guests of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will be Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at El Camino Restaurant. RSVPs are requested but not required. For details, call Shannon at 440-679-1325.
UM plans servicesArea residents are welcome to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Aurora United Methodist Church.A Christmas Weve candlelight service will be Dec. 24 at 7 p.m., with a Christmas Day service at 10:30 a.m.
UM men will meet The men's adult group at Aurora United Methodist Church will enjoy breakfast Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. at Nicky Smitty's. At 3 p.m., members of the church will go caroling and then return to the church for fellowship, cookies and hot chocolate.
Sewers to gather The Piecemakers will meet Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church to work on quilts and knit or crochet blankets and hats for the homeless, youths and babies. Bring a bag lunch if you plan to stay all day. For details, call Karen at 216-513-6444.

Inmate gifts eyed Aurora Mennonite Church's missions committee is supporting the Way Out Christmas gift bags for inmates program again this year. Fliers are on the table in foyer showing the specific items needed. Items should be taken to the church by Dec. 8.

Order poinsettias Poinsettia orders are being taken at the Church in Aurora for the Christmas season until Nov. 21. Order forms were in the Nov. 13 bulletin and will be on the chapel tables Nov. 20.
UM luncheon set A luncheon for women at Aurora United Methodist Church will take place Nov. 6 at Station 43. Tuesday morning women meet each week at 10 a.m. The praise team gathers Wednesdays at 7 p.m. to prepare for Sunday services, and UM 201 meets Thursdays at 7 p.m.
