LETTER: Resident warns public of possible scam

Published:

I recently received a phone call and thought it was important enough to send a warning to the community. The caller ID came up "unavailable" with a phone number of 000-000-0000. Yes, I realized right away that it was either a telemarketer or a scam.

The gentleman identified himself as a person from GE. He said he was checking to see if I was using my home alarm system properly. He asked if I had been using it for three years. And if I was still using it. When I asked him to take my number off his list and informed him that I was on the "do not call list," he kept asking questions.

Please be wary of these kinds of calls. No one should be asking questions or getting answers about how you protect your home. Hope this stops someone from being broken into.
