CLAUDE R. HARMON

A memorial service will be Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory  Service in Mantua — with the Rev. Mickey Aquilino officiating — for Claude R. Harmon, 91, who died Dec. 21, 2013 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service.
Born in Mantua, on Dec. 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Demas and Amy (Simpson) Harmon. A resident of Bluffton since 2003, he formerly resided in Mantua, Chagrin Falls and Bradenton, Fla.
A graduate of Mantua High School, Mr. Harmon was a member of the Mantua Volunteer Fire department and served with his dad for many years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his sons Clifford K. (Gail) Harmon of Bluffton and Roy L. Harmon of Reminderville; daughters Gail Brenda (William) Rider of Concord, N.H., and Susan (Jeff) Wilcox of Tega Cay, S.C.; grandchildren Molly Rider, Joseph Rider, Corey (Emaline) Rider, Kimberly Harmon, Benjamin Harmon, Jason (Danielle) Harmon and Jonathan (Jill) Harmon; and great-granddaughter Esme Rider.
He was preceded in death by his wife Blanch (Hanzl) Harmon in 2005 and sisters Mary Jones and Ethel Beaudoin.
Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township with U.S. Navy military honors.
