Robert Jams Tracy died Nov. 28, 2013 (Thanksgiving) at age 92 at Independence Village in Aurora. He was born in Toledo on Aug. 15, 1921, to the late Estelle McVay Tracy and Robert Gregory Tracy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Martha Ellen Sisson Tracy; son Robert Douglas (Deborah) Tracy of New Albany; and daughters Barbara (John) Stratton of Miami, Fla., Janet (Robert) Wenzel of Port Charlotte, Fla., Carol (Bill) Fancher of Dallas and Jeanne (Penn) Davidson of Orange Beach, Ala.
Mr. Tracy graduated from the University of Michigan with bachelor’s and maser’s degrees and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served three years in the service during World War II, and was a true representative of “The Greatest Generation
He began his career with Standard Oil of Ohio, having assignments in Cleveland, Portsmouth and Columbus. He retired in 1982. He was a devoted member of the Church in Aurora and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He also was an avid stamp collector and a huge fan of the “big band” era.
Mr. Tracy leaves seven loving grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and dear family friends Ruth, Tom and David Cooksey in the United Kingdom.
A public memorial service will take place Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the Church in Aurora following a private burial service at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery that morning.
