Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 20 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with the Rev. James M. Daprile officiating, for Cathryn J. Courtad, 79, who died Sept. 17, 2013, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She was born Feb. 27,1934 in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Anne (Krynak) Adams. Formerly of Northfield, she had been a resident of Aurora since 1988. A member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, she was an avid reader and bingo player, while her most cherished times were spent attending sporting events of their grandsons with her late husband James G. Courtad, whom she married Sept. 3, 1951.
She also was preceded in death by her brother Richard Adams and sister Ethel Dawson.
Survivors include son Dennis (Mary Chris) Courtad of Aurora; sisters Patricia Berger of Parma and Joan Schmetzer of Independence; grandsons Christopher, Timothy, Thomas and Michael Courtad, all of Aurora; and great-grandchildren Cole, Kara, Curt, Cal, Carmen, Camryn, Vincent, Domnic, Rocco, Presley and Roman.
Mrs. Courtad was laid to rest beside her husband at Aurora City Cemetery. Donations can be made to the memorial fund of the church. Arrangements were handled by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
