Service planned Dec. 28

A memorial service will take place Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Church in Aurora for Marilyn Ann Johnson, 83, of Redmond, Wash., who died Dec. 19, 2012 at her residence.

Born Feb. 4, 1929, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Ollie and Marie Luzius. She was reared in Cleveland and attended Kent State University, where she joined the Alpha Phi sorority.

On April 4, 1953, she married C. Gunnar Johnson in Cleveland, and their lives included moves to Alaska, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Connecticut, Ohio again and Washington. They lived in Aurora for a while.

Her hobbies and interests included dogs, traveling, reading, playing bridge, sewing and gardening, and she reportedly baked tasty fruit pies.

Survivors include her husband; daughter Kristin J. (Mark) Darnell; sister Bette Jane Moore; and grandchildren Mitchell and Meredith Darnell.

The family suggests donations be made to the ASPCA or a favorite animal rescue organization of the donor.

A funeral service took place in Issaquah, Wash. on Dec. 22 at Flintofts Funeral Home.

A reception at the church in Aurora will follow the Dec. 28 memorial service. Friends can view photos and share memories at www.flintofts.com.
