SATs and ACTs too much pressure?

Dear Editor
What's the secret to a perfect score on a college entrance exam? If you ask me, there is none. Studies prove that sometimes, even bright students just aren't good test takers. Is it really fair to place so much emphasis on a standardized test? SATs and ACTs only serve to stress high school seniors out excessively, when universities should be focusing more on transcripts, essays, interviews and recommendations; components of the application that actually provide some insight into the student's mind, credibility, personality and potential.
Frankly, test scores to not define a student in any way. Although some argue that they are fair because every student undergoes the same test, a four-hour test taken early on a Saturday morning does not accurately reflect four years of hard work in high school
In a world where universities are more and more competitive every year, 1 point higher on the ACT should not be the difference between an acceptance letter and a rejection letter in the mail.
