The Ohio Military Reserve (Ohio State Guard) was organized officially in 1803 with the writing of the Ohio Constitution. It has been a historic part of the great State of Ohio since. Today, with the ever-growing threat of violence from foreign entities, and the ever present threat of natural disasters, the Ohio Military Reserve is needed even more.

The Ohio Military Reserve needs enlistees to perform physical security, search and rescue, augment civil authorities as well as assist the Ohio National Guard's back operations within the State of Ohio. The Ohio Military Reserve serves only in the State of Ohio. It cannot be deployed outside of Ohio. Soldiers work in their local communities with agencies like the American Red Cross, EMA, FEMA, Ohio Security Forces, as well as local Sheriff and Police departments.

The Ohio Military Reserve can take men or women between the ages of 17 and 60 who have no felony recorsd and are in satisfactory physical condition. It is an opportunity to serve the state as well as the country in a military fashion. It is a three year commitment to drill once a month. True to volunteer citizen military tradition, soldiers provide their own uniforms and equipment. They are trained in land navigation, communications, first aid-CPR, urban operations, search and rescue, weapons safety and use, traffic control, physical security, convoying, self-defense as well as military courtesies and traditions. The Ohio Military Reserve trains to the US Army standards.

To join the Ohio Military Reserve a prospect need only contact recruiting Officer, Mark Williams at 330-351-0615. After a briefing, a physical and background check, a new soldier can start his or her career as an Ohio Military Reservist. Join Today!
