Solon police say Joseph J. Maresh, 31, of Smuggler's Cove in Reminderville is recovering at Metro General Hospital after stumbling into the Solon Police Department June 3 with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Solon Police Lt. Chris Viland said June 8 Maresh was awake and conscious, but would not comment further on his condition or the case.

According to a June 4 release from Solon police, Maresh was given first-aid after entering the lobby, transported by Solon emergency crews to the Solon Medical Campus and then by medical helicopter to Metro General Hospital in Cleveland.

Police believe Maresh was shot in a parking lot behind buildings in the 6200 block of Enterprise Parkway in Solon.

No suspects had been identified by Solon police as of June 8, and the driver of the vehicle who dropped off Maresh at the police station around 7:45 p.m. remained at large.

The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information about it is urged to call the Solon Police Department's detective bureau at 440-248-1234.
