Schools seek volunteers for the summer library

May 14, 2008

The following items are reprinted from the News from Craddock and Miller Schools and Leighton Letter newsletters.

Parents are needed to man the kindergarten to fifth grade summer reading library at Craddock School.

Students will have the opportunity to check out grade-leveled books during the summer. Volunteers must work for a few hours one day per week. If interested, call Jodi Roscoe or Kim Armbrecht at 330-562-9646 ext. 3056 and leave a message.

Meanwhile, Leighton School's orchestra concert, previously listed as being May 22, will be May 28 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, followed by an awards ceremony. An afternoon orchestra concert will be May 22 at 1:15.

Tie-dying of T-shirts will take place May 19 to 23 in Craddock School art classes. Students should take one white cotton pre-washed T-shirt (dye won't work without pre-washing).

Parents should put their child's name or initials on the tag with a permanent marker, and also send a 1-gallon zip-lock bag and a grocery bag in which to send home the T-shirt.

The T-shirts will be worn on field day June 5.

Craddock's Relay For Life team is accepting donations of books, movies and CDs for a 24-hour sale May 31. Items can be dropped off at the Hurd Road entrance through May 30.

Miller School's vehicle day is today (May). Physical education field days at Miller will be May 21-22 and Miller's mini-Relay For Life will be May 23. There is no school May 26 because of Memorial Day.
