Spring music concerts are coming up for Leighton School students.
The choral and band concert will be May 12 at 7 p.m. in the Leighton gymnasium. An afternoon session at 1:15 also is planned for those who cannot attend in the evening.
The orchestra concert will be May 22 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, followed by an awards program. An afternoon performance at 1:15 at Leighton is available for those who cannot attend at night.
The Partners for Full Potential will discuss the supplemental reading program used by the local schools May 16 at 10 a.m. in Leighton's tech lab and May 21 at 7 p.m. in Leighton's media center.
A demonstration of a wide range of reading aids used for students with and without disabilities will be presented. Presenters will be Dr. Heggarty and Orton Gillingham.

Dennis Alexander has moved over to head the Leighton media center from the high school. He replaces Jennifer Kinkoph, who is on maternity leave.
The April lunch bunch classes are Maria Goodman's-Daniel Clapper's third-graders and Nancy Petru's-Dee Ann Pochedly's fourth-graders.
Special thanks go to the Elementary PTO for providing snacks during Leighton's testing week and Leighton's students, who raised $1,412 to help fight Mitochrondrial Disease, which inflicts one of the school's students.
Fourth-grader Julia Peterson is a Level 5 all-around state gymnastics champion.
The schools continue to collect General Mills boxtops. Twenty boxtops should be bundled with student's name, grade and teacher name on a piece of paper in the baggie. Students can win tickets for free ice cream.
Craddock School custodian Terry Rudge has retired effective April 30 after 31 years with the local school district.

Thanks go to Miller music teacher Debbie Rogers for the kindergarten concert; Mary Jane Jones for the second-grade concerts; Michelle Craig, Kelli DeMicco and Kelly Smith for second-grade movie night; and PTO volunteers who welcome parents and students during the kindergarten screening days.
Volunteers are needed one day per week during the summer for the kindergarten-fifth grade reading library at Craddock. If interested, call Jodi Roscoe or Kim Armbrecht at 330-562-9646 ext. 3056 and leave a message with name and phone number.
