Aurora -- Two local men were charged with domestic violence after separate incidents.
On April 23, a man was arrested in the northwest part of town after officers investigated a report that he was in a physical altercation with his wife. She declined medical treatment.
On April 25, police escorted the man to his residence to remove his belongings. He turned over several weapons to police for safe keeping.
On April 26, an Aurora man was stopped by Solon police after police said he left a home in the Geauga Lake area following a domestic dispute with his live-in girlfriend. Police said the man had pushed his girlfriend to the ground and struck her. She reported no injuries.
Both of the suspects in the two incidents were taken to the Portage County Jail.
Meanwhile in an incident April 28, police responded to an alleged physical dispute between two Aurora men near the Aurora Club. No injuries were reported, and officers were investigating.
Thefts, harassment
April 24 -- Prize scam. An Aurora man reported he received phone calls advising he had won a prize and to send money to collect it. A person saying he was an inspector later called and made threats of arrest if the money wasn't sent.
Police advised the man to change his phone number or hang up on the caller, and to contact his credit institution and have a watch put on all his accounts.
April 24 -- Strange calls. A Woodview Trail man reported he has been receiving "strange" calls over an extended period.
April 26 -- Stolen goods. An Aurora Farms Premium Outlets store employee reported $1,300 worth of merchandise was missing. Police said there were no witnesses, no signs of forced entry, no description of what was taken and no suspects.
April 27 -- Purse taken. An employee of a store on South Chillicothe Road reported two males entered the premises. After they left, she discovered her purse was missing. Inside were identification, credit cards and an unknown amount of cash.
April 29 -- Harassing calls. An Aurora Farms Premium Outlets store manager reported receiving harassing phone calls from an unidentified man.
April 29 -- Wallet missing. An Aurora woman reported her wallet was missing from her room in the 500 block of South Chillicothe Road. It contained an unknown amount of cash, medical cards and other papers.
April 29 -- Fraud. A South Chillicothe Road woman said she received several calls regarding a credit application she did not make. She was advised to contact a credit reporting agency to check for unauthorized usage.
April 30 -- Wallet taken. A woman reported while attending a rummage sale in the 100 block of South Chillicothe Road her wallet, which was in her baby stroller, was missing. A witness claimed seeing a suspect's vehicle heading toward Twinsburg, where police pulled it over. No wallet or credit cards were found in the vehicle and the suspects were released. The woman contacted her credit card company.
Traffic-related cases
April 24 -- Suspended license. During a traffic stop on Club Drive, an Aurora woman was cited for driving under suspension and was taken to the Portage County Jail.
April 24 -- Two citations. After a vehicle was stopped for loud music on Moneta Avenue, officers found the driver, an Aurora man, was under suspension and a woman passenger was in allegedpossession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Both were cited.
April 25 -- Driveway collision. A mishap occurred on Bryce Avenue when a Beachwood man backed out a driveway and struck a parked vehicle. No damage estimate was given.
April 26 -- Citations. During a traffic stop in the 800 block of East Pioneer Trail, police cited a Mantua man for driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on bond.
April 27 -- OVI citation. An Aurora man was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license in the 1000 block of North Aurora Road. He was released on bond.
April 29 -- Bus struck. Police said an Aurora juvenile backed from a parking space at the high school and struck a school bus. No damage estimate was given.
April 30 -- Rear-end crash. Officers said a Reminderville woman struck an Aurora juvenile's vehicle from behind in the 300 block of North Bissell Road. The report did not indicate whether a citation was issued and no damage estimate was given.
April 30 -- Suspended license. During a traffic stop in the 1200 block of North Aurora Road, an Aurora woman was cited for driving under suspension.
Miscellaneous cases
April 26 -- Wood in street. An officer observed several pieces of wood from a split-rail fence in the middle of Mill Pond Road, along with two manhole covers and several water box covers. The wood was removed and the water box covers and manhole covers were replaced.
April 26 -- Phone turned in. A cell phone was taken to the police station for safe keeping after a man found it on bleachers at Sunny Lake Park. The phone was dead and the owner could not be identified.
April 26 -- Warrant served. A Kent man who was being held in the Portage County Jail was served a warrant for failure to appear in court.
April 27 -- Car egged. A woman reported while she and a friend were in a vehicle in a Barrington Town Square lot, someone drove by and threw eggs. Since the woman is familiar with the suspect, police were attempting to make contact. No damage estimate was given.
April 29 -- House damaged. A Windward Lane woman reported finding a hole in her screen and window. Damage was estimated at $150.
