Marketplace Marshalls
expands its shoe area
Marshalls in the Marketplace at Four Corners in Bainbridge Township is expanding its family footwear department and will open a Marshalls Shoe MegaShop on March 13.
The store will feature a 5,000-square-foot expanded department showcasing thousands of pairs of shoes for men, women and children.
Shoppers can pick up shoes by style rather than size by finding their size in the boxes below the display shoe.
Since opening its first store more than 40 years ago, Marshalls has become synonymous with off-price shopping. It has more than 750 stores in 42 states and Puerto Rico.
Drive-it-yourself tour
of maple farms slated
More than 20 Northeast Ohio maple producers, in conjunction with the Ohio Maple Producers Association, Geauga Ohio State University Extension and Geauga County Tourism Council, present the 2008 March Maple Madness Driving Tour.
The free event takes place March 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
More than 20 sugarhouses in Portage, Geauga, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties will be open for the free, drive-it-yourself tour. Experienced sugar makers will be on hand to answer questions.
Several stops are Amish sugarhouses and cameras will not be permitted.
Three Portage County producers will be on the tour -- Windswept Farm at 12106 Udall Road in Hiram, Apple's Sugarbush at 12008 Route 88 in Garrettsville and Clarence Moore & Sons at 6438 Pioneer Road in Hiram.
Maps of the tour will be available at each stop or can be printed off the Geauga County Tourism Council Web site -- www.tourgeauga.com -- or ohiosweetmaple.com.

Gas at some locations
rises to $3.29 a gallon
Motorists who tried to fill their tanks got some sticker shock at the pumps late last week as prices at many stations soared to $3.29 per gallon.
Drivers joked about coming out of retirement or taking out loans to pay for the pricey stuff even as they pumped it into their tanks.
Oil topped $106 a barrel in New York trading March 7 and drivers felt the pain at the pumps.
Early March 7 in Rootstown, signs at the BP station near Interstate 76 proclaimed advertised gas at $3.13, while it was $3.29 across the street at Speedway.
The BP bargain was short-lived however, as the sign was changed mid-morning.
Sheri Hutzell of Ravenna said she was only buying a little gas to get her to her destination, and planned to use her fuel perks to fill the tank later.
As snow started to pile up, motorists crowded the GetGo at Giant Eagle in Ravenna to top off their tanks. Many were anxious to use Fuel Perks to reduce the $3.29 price.
The Clark station on South Water Street in Kent was one of the last bastions of gas under $3 a gallon, and many vehicles jockeyed for position in the tiny parking lot.
Easter egg hunt slated
First & Main will host an Easter event March 22 with several events planned, including an Easter egg hop, scavenger hunt and visits by the Easter Bunny
Kids should bring their own baskets at 11 a.m. and "hop" around First & Main looking for 12 Easter helpers, marked by balloons.
