PartsSource's founder

to speak at conference

A. Ray Dalton, founder of PartsSource in Aurora, will be the keynote speaker March 6 at a conference sponsored by Leadership Portage County.

The event will be at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rootstown. The current Leadership class and the public can attend.

Dalton's firm has taken over the building once occupied by Lucas Aerospace and Goodrich on Lena Drive. It is the seventh business Dalton has started.

PartsSource supplies parts for hospital equipment by working with vendors around the world, guaranteeing delivery and satisfaction usually within 48 hours.

Business magazines have cited PartsSource as one of America's fastest growing companies.

Dalton has credited the success of his business to valued employees and their ability to deliver topnotch customer service.

Hudson is nominated

for treasurer of OAR

Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer Realtor Meg Hudson, who works out of the Aurora office, has been nominated for treasurer of the Ohio Association of Realtors.

The election for the position will be in September and the term will begin in January 2009.

Hudson has earned the endorsement of the Portage County Association of Realtors and the approval of the nominating committee of the OAR.

She began her real estate career in 1994 and has served the local association in many elected positions. She was named the Aurora Chamber of Commerce's citizen of the year in 1996.

She was a member of the Chamber's board, Aurora Women's Club, Aurora Housing Advisory Council, Portage County Health Committee Partnership Initiative and Aurora's parks-recreation committee.

Hudson and her husband Lenny have two children and a daughter-in-law.

The treasurer's post develops into the president-elect in the second year and then president in the third year.

The new spa and Piccolo Café are located in the Akron General Health and Wellness Center North on Allen Road in Stow.

Health fair exhibitors

are eyed by Chamber

The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a health fair from 3 to 8 p.m. April 7 at St. Joan of Arc Hall.

The Chamber is looking for anyone connected to the health care field to inform the community about their products and services.

Welcome are dentists, chiropractors, opticians, pharmacies, weight loss centers, fitness-wellness centers, podiatrists, dermatologists, general physicians, insurance and health care providers, educators, and long-term and assisted living facilities.

The cost is $75 per table before Feb. 15 and $100 after that, based on available space. For details, call the Chamber at 330-626-4769.

Tote bag at Heinen's

promotes heart health

Heinen's is offering a limited edition tote bag to celebrate National Heart Month. The bag's theme is "Women Have the Greatest Hearts."

The tote bag was designed to bring awareness of women and cardiovascular disease. Heinen's will donate $1 from the sale of each $4.95 bag to the Women's Cardiovascular Center at Cleveland Clinic.

The bag was designed by Kristen Mascha, a sophomore majoring in fashion at Ursuline College.

According to Heinen's spokesman Jeff Heinen, the grocery firm contacted the chairman of Ursuline's fashion program to see if students would be interested in creating a graphic design for the tote bag.

More than 25 students submitted drawings, and Mascha's design was picked. The totes are made of cotton canvas.

The totes will be available at all Heinen's stores throughout February.

Dividend raised a little

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. last week announced an increase in its regular quarterly cash distribution to 48 cents per limited partner unit. That would translate into a hike from $1.90 to $1.92 per unit annually.

Local man is certified

by homebuilders group

Jeff Budzowski, owner of Tower Park Construction Ltd. of Twinsburg and an Aurora resident, recently obtained a Certified Aging-In-Place designation from the National Association of Home Builders.

The CAPS designation program teaches skills associated with modifications to make homes more accessible for all people, regardless of age, size or abilities, according to a Tower Park press release.

Such modifications include zero-step entrances, levered door handles and wider doorways.

Budzowski is an NAHB Graduate Master Builder, vice president of the Cleveland Home Builders Association and a member of the HBA Remodelers Council, the press release stated.

New associate named

Patrick Santa Maria has affiliated as a Realtor with the Aurora office of Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer.

Licensed in real estate in the state of Ohio, he now is taking advanced accelerated training designed by the company to enhance his knowledge or real estate sales.

He enters the real estate industry with credentials in the health care industry (pediatric and adolescent care). He is a graduate of Ashland College and resides in Streetsboro.

Shaw gets recognition

in attorneys' magazine

Aurora resident Russell C. Shaw has been recognized for his achievements by Ohio Super Lawyers magazine. He works for the firm of Walter & Haverfield LLP.

In its annual listing, Ohio Super Lawyers honors individuals from a wide range of practice areas who have become outstanding practitioners in their fields.

Shaw focuses his practice in the areas of employee benefits-ERISA and non-profit law. He is a former U.S. Army captain who served on the legal staff of Gen. William Westmoreland in Vietnam.

He lectures on employee benefits and fiduciary liability issues to various professional and nonprofit organizations. He also is an adjunct professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
