LEONARD J. MINTUS
Father of local resident
Services took place recently in Warren for Leonard J. Mintus, 80, of Warren, who died Dec. 14 in Forum Health's Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Born May 12, 1927 in Rowes Run, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mary Kwak Mintus, and lived in Warren most of his life.
He graduated from Leavittsburg LaBrae High School and served with the 88th Signal Blue Devil Division as a radio operator during World War II.
He was a crane operator in the melt shop of Copperweld Steel Co., retiring in 1986 after 44 years of service.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren, the Youngstown Saxon Club, St. Joseph Holy Name Society and SS. Cyril and Methodius 50-Plus Club.
He had been a past Boy Scout Webelo leader and was a ham radio operator. He was an avid pro and college football fan and enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, fishing, polka dancing, yard work, attending regattas at Put-in-Bay and vacationing.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marie (Novakovich) Mintus; daughter Linda (Gary) Henrich of Aurora; son Dennis (Cindy) Mintus of Warren; four grandchildren; sister Michaeline Hayda of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Burial was in All Souls Cemetery with military honors. Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

DORIS SPIVEY
Hope Lutheran member
Services were Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. in Hope Lutheran Church for Doris (Ball) Spivey, 85, of Aurora, who died Dec. 22 at Gardens of Western Reserve in Streetsboro.
Born in England to William and Eliza (Marsh) Ball, both deceased, she studied zoology in college and spent her life as a homemaker and rearing her children.
She was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church and was head of the alter committee for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband Robert Spivey of Aurora; daughter Lynn (Andy) Richner of Aurora; son Gary (Mary Alice) Spivey of Bellevue, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
Johnson-Romito Funeral Home in Twinsburg handled arrangements.
JAMES ALAN MORAN
Aurora High graduate
Family services took place for James Alan Moran, 59, of Solon, who died Dec. 23.
He was a 1968 graduate of Aurora High School, served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient and a member of Solon VFW Post 1863.
Survivors include his brothers H. Daniel (Cheryl) Moran of Springfield, Mo., and Richard (Lori) Moran of Garrettsville; sisters Barbara (Donald) Robinson of Ravenna, Kathryn Lommler (Mark Gless) of Mantua Township and Linda (Chris) Crim of Cuyahoga Falls; and nine nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Helen Moran.
