Recreation activities Indoor soccer -- Children in pre-kindergarten to second grade will compete in an open format program Feb. 20 to March 20 at Harmon School. Cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Various programs -- Many recreational and community education programs are offered by the city's parks-recreation department. Among them are learn to roller skate, inline roller skating, after-school art, cartooning, junior engineering, photography, golf lessons, dancing, culinary classes, Jazzercise, ghost-hunting, stop smoking seminars, tours, youth camps, gardening and home improvement. Simply declutter -- In-structor Ruth Anne Vassal will help participants with a plan to conquer clutter in their homes. The four-part series continues Feb. 9 and 23 and March 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Walker Building. Cost is $20 per session. Senior activity details Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail. Programs include bingo, chair exercise, computer classes, wellness checks, tai chi for arthritics, health screenings, card games, breakfast and lunch outings, speakers and theme parties. Walking and firm low-impact aerobics are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Arthritis Foundation exercise program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. Gentle yoga is Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. Fee is $35 for six classes. Wii is offered Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Line dancing and chair volleyball are also available. Reflexology therapy will be Feb. 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. The current events discussion group meets Thursdays at 10 a.m. Massage with Susan Lund will be Feb. 15 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast before bingo is Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m. for a $3 fee. A Valentine's Day luncheon will be Feb. 17 at noon for a $6 fee. An art class dealing with clay is running through Feb. 17. Manicures and pedicures will be offered Feb. 10 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Some trips coming up in the new year are: Feb. 4 -- Akron Art Museum; Feb. 9 -- Cleveland Cavs game; Feb. 11 -- IMAX Theater and Polka Hall of Fame Museum; Feb. 28 -- "Oklahoma" at Kent State University; March 3 -- "Xanadu" at Playhouse Square. The parks and rec department is in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail. Hours are Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Comments
