by Holly Schoenstein Reporter Aurora -- The Bulone family of Aurora organized a day-long collection of medical supplies for Haiti earthquake victims Jan. 23 in Leighton School's staff parking lot. "We had been watching on the news -- just like everyone else -- heard the stories and saw the photos," Jennifer Bullone said. She learned that Cleveland-based nonprofit organization MedWish International, which seeks to improve the quality of medical care in developing countries, was accepting donations, so her family decided to help. "The schools cooperated with letting us set up there and getting the word out," she explained. "We were able to almost fill the trailer with supplies, which was 18 feet by 6 feet." Bullone estimated 100 people from Aurora donated new and used items, including tents, blankets, diapers, formula, hydrogen peroxide and bottled water. The supplies were dropped off at MedWish's warehouse on Euclid Avenue Jan. 25 and were scheduled to be shipped to Haiti the next day, she said. "It's a small step to a greater movement to help people in need," Bulone added. E-mail: hschoenstein@recordpub.com Phone: 330-688-0088 ext. 3152 Comments
