By Colin Harris Record-Courier Reporter Changes are set for the Portage Trail Conference. Starting in 2011, the PTC will see realignment. Metro Division member Southeast will move to the County Div-ision and Streetsboro will go to the league's "big school" tier. As per PTC bylaws, any changes to division alignment are made in six-year intervals. As far back as 2007, however, member schools discussed making changes, with population size and enrollment figures as determining factors. Reactions have been mixed, with Streetsboro Athletic Director Bruce Johnson expressing concern. "I think [realignment] is a mixed bag here at Streetsboro," said Johnson, who was named to the AD position at Streetsboro in 2009. "Some coaches are excited about the change, but I think overall that it's not going to be good for us. "We're trying to get some programs off the ground and I believe the move to the big division has the potential to hurt their grown," added Johnson, pointing to soccer as an example. Southeast AD Roy Burd has taken an opposite stance, expressing excitement about his school's move back to a schedule with traditional rivals like Waterloo, Mogadore and Rootstown. "It should be good," he said. Comments
