Jan. 22 was not a good day for Joseph Z. Terlizzi.
The Bedford Heights man pleaded guilty that morning in Portage County Municipal Court-Ravenna on a Streetsboro traffic ticket and was ordered to pay $247 in fines and court costs.
Less than eight hours later, he was arrested by the Portage County Drug Task Force and charged with selling LSD and cocaine to an undercover agent.
Terlizzi, 19, allegedly sold 64 doses of LSD, as well as about a gram of cocaine, in the parking lot of a business near the intersection of Routes 43 and 14.
The incident took place just after 5 p.m., and task force commander Patrick Burns said the drugs had a street value of more than $500.
Assisted by officers from the Streetsboro and Aurora police departments, agents recovered additional cocaine, marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash when searching Terlizzi upon his arrest, according to Burns.
He was charged with one count each of third-degree felony aggravated trafficking in LSD, fifth-degree felony trafficking in cocaine and fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine. The conveyance charge is pending, according to Burns.
Then, as Terlizzi was being booked at the Portage County Jail after his arrest, corrections officers discovered an additional 0.7 grams of cocaine hidden in a compartment in his jacket, Burns said.
That meant another felony charge of conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility.
Terlizzi also faces a jury trial in a Aug. 21, 2009 misdemeanor assault that took place in Streetsboro, according to court records.
His attorney in that matter, Eric Moore, filed a motion Jan. 22 in municipal court in Ravenna to continue the assault trial to a later date.
