Aurora High School veteran wrestling coach Dick Bliss reports that the Greenmen have received an invitation to compete in the Ohio Duals on Jan. 10 at St. Paris Graham.

"University School dropped out, so we'll be among the eight teams competing," Bliss noted.

The only opponent the Greenmen know they will face at this time is Claymont, and Bliss explained the irony of that.

"We'll be traveling to Uhrichsville to meet Claymont two days before [Dec. 8]," he said. "The Mustangs are one of the state's traditional powerhouses, and we'll face them twice in three days."

Bliss said AHS might get to wrestle St. Paris Graham, which has won several state titles in recent years, and he noted he "would love that."

Meanwhile, Bliss reports that several current wrestlers recently reached individual milestones in their careers.

Ty Mitch, a two-time state champion, passed the 130-win mark, and at 131 is tied for fifth place in all-time wins at Aurora with Chris Horne. After the Hudson Invitational, he extended his AHS career record for takedowns to 598.

Other milestones are:

Mark Korosec and Mikael Fadoul passed the 70-win mark; Ryan Cash passed the 60-win mark and 150-takedown mark; Brian Wells passed the 60-win mark and 100-takedown mark; Danny McNamara passed the 60-victory plateau; and Mike Ganoe passed the 50-win mark.

Through the recent Hudson Invitational, wrestlers' records so far this year are:

Mitch, 13-2; Cash, 12-1; Korosec, 11-3; McNamara, Ganoe and Tommy Gallagher, all 9-2; Wells, 12-4; Andrew Weaver, 10-3; Matt Korosec, 6-2.

Patrick Houlahan, 8-5; Fadoul, 7-5; Devin Levan, 8-3; D.J. Lieberth, 8-2; Anthony Vella, 5-2; Kyle Brezovec, 5-7; Pete DiCillo, 4-5; Cody Rinehart, Sean Armstrong and Bobby Angelo, all 4-7.

Tim Maxwell, 4-6; and Tanner Martin, 4-4; Will Rosengarten, 3-5; Zach Fadoul, 2-6; Justin Frankmann, 2-2; and Dalton Stebbins, 1-8.
