Aurora resident Matthew Dzurenko, 49, was killed in an early-morning accident July 2 on Interstate 480 in Brooklyn Heights, according to the Brooklyn Heights Police Department.

According to police, the accident occurred around 5 a.m. when a 36-year-old Parma man drove up the westbound exit ramp from I-480, hitting Dzurenko’s vehicle head-on.

Brooklyn Heights Police Chief Joseph Kocab said police officers helped EMS crews remove Dzurenko from his vehicle. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Parma man was not injured in the crash, according to police.

Police said July 2 they are investigating the accident. Police say they plan to charge the Parma driver, who is currently in Brooklyn Heights jail, with aggravated vehicular homicide on Monday.
