by April Helms Special Products Editor Area residents looking for laughs may be able to find them June 27 at the Quirk Cultural Center in Cuyahoga Falls. Bill Squire, 27, of Cuyahoga Falls, will take his comedy act to that location at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $5 and are available at http://billsquire.com online. Squire said he has toured comedy clubs and colleges all over the nation, including the Gotham City Club in New York to towns in North Dakota. He also can be found in online skits. He makes regular appearances in the Web series "Man in the Box" and was on the viral video "11 Guys at the Playground." Joining Squire on June 27 will be Jim Tews, Ramon Rivas and Zachariah Durr, who all have roots in Northeast Ohio. "I got into comedy five years ago," Squire said. "I was working for my dad doing construction and was just miserable. I told myself 'this work is not for me.'" So he started attending open mic nights at a former Medina theater "and it just grew from there." "I do observational stand-up comedy," Squire said of his comic style. "It's kind of edgy, kind of dark but definitely relatable to every audience." Squire, who is married with three children, said that he aims to make a full-time living out of making people laugh. "I don't have to be the most famous comedian in the world, but I would like to be able to do this for a living," he said. "Hopefully I'll be living in L.A., maybe get an appearance on The Tonight Show, and a couple specials on Comedy Central." His advice to those looking at doing stand-up comedy is to "just keep going." "Just keep at it," he said. "It's like any other job, you only get ahead if you work at it and practice." Quirk Cultural Center is at 1201 Crant Ave. For details, call 330-971-8425.
