JAMES F. REMINDER Lived in Reminderville A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated March 12 at St. Rita Church in Solon for James F. Reminder, 89, of Reminderville, who died March 9. Survivors include sons Robert J. (Linda) of Rhode Island, Charles V. (Judy) of Twinsburg, Edward P. (Lara) of Streetsboro, Thomas G. (Penny) of Aurora, Dennis C. of Reminderville, John "Jack" (Karen) of Reminderville and Christopher J. (Becky) of Peninsula; daughter Virginia M. (Ron) Folsom of Footville; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet (Koehler), son Alan J.; sisters Loretta Schneider, Gladys Reiman-Wilhelm, and Eileen Kiss; and brother Leo. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. EDWARD G. BREHM Was a longtime teacher Services were March 14 at Parkside Church in Bainbridge for Edward Gene Brehm, 78, who died March 9 at his Aurora home. Born Aug. 18, 1930 in Mantua Township, he was the son of the late George and Mollie (Runniger) Brehm. A resident of Aurora since 1964, he was a member of the last class of Mantua Center Township School and past president of the Mantua Center Alumni Association. He played on the 1947-48 Portage County championship basketball team and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, having been an airplane mechanic stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California. He graduated from Hiram College and earned a masters degree from Kent State University, then taught his entire career in the Warrensville Heights schools. After retiring, he and his wife Mary ran a preschool for more than 20 years. He is past president of the Chagrin Valley Square Dance Club and the couple enjoyed traveling to square dance conventions. Mr. Brehm also enjoyed gardening, wood working and spending time with his family. He was a member of Parkside Church, the Crestwood Alumni Association and the 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry reunion group. Survivors include his wife, whom he married in 1953; sons David (Nancy) of Powell and Larry (Karen) of Gahanna; daughters Linda (Mark-deceased) Bauer of Houston and Diana (Jim) Leitch of Rocky River; 10 grandchildren; and brother Leonard (Joyce) Brehm of Bradenton, Fla. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and George and sister Bernice Thompson. Donations can be made to Parkside Church or the 103rd OVI Memorial Foundation, 5501 E. CARLE Longtime local resident A memorial Mass will be celebrated March 20 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Aurora for Cecelia M. (Pawliske) Carle, 81, who died March 9 at Hudson Elms Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born Dec. 8, 1927 in St. Benedict, Pa. to the late Walter and Martha Pawliske, she was a 44-year resident of Aurora. She was a licensed cosmetologist and was a longtime executive secretary at the Crucible Steel Co. in Solon. Her main interest was gourmet cooking, and she also enjoyed various crafts. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert L.; sister Elizabeth Jannazo of Parma Heights; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Bernard, Edward, Francis and Robert and sisters Gertrude Illig and Irene Dindios. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home in Hudson.
