One of the four bidders for the 550 acres where Geauga Lake's amusement park once operated in Bainbridge Township has said it has pulled its bid off the table.

A source with American Coaster Enthusiasts told the Aurora Advocate its offer was withdrawn June 20.

Colliers Ostendorf-Morris, the real estate firm handling the bids for Geauga Lake's parent company -- Cedar Fair Entertainment -- did not return calls to confirm the report as of July 21.

According to the source, ACE's bid was contingent on the Big Dipper roller coaster being part of the deal.

When the coaster was sold at auction for $5,000 on June 17 to Tom Woosnam of APEX Western Machinery Movers, ACE said Colliers told it the Big Dipper would not be included in the land purchase.

ACE has been active in trying to save the Big Dipper since the announcement last September that the park would close. Without the coaster, ACE said it now has no interest in the land.

Colliers said it received four bids for the land by a May 23 deadline. Spokesman Cliff West had said it would take about six weeks to decide who the successful bidder would be, but it has now reached the eight-week mark.
