Boys are 4th at MayfieldMay 14, 2008
After a fourth-place finish in the Mayfield Invitational and a tie for first with Perry in a tri meet which also included West Geauga, the Aurora boys tracksters are competing in the Chagrin Valley Conference meet this week. The Greenmen scored 90 points in the eight-team Mayfield meet behind University School, Mayfield and Medina Highland. Rounding out the field were Maple Heights, John Adams, Orange and Willoughby South. The 4x110 shuttle hurdle relay team of Frederick Frantzen, Jamaal Simmons, Dee Brizzolara and Dave Napierta earned Aurora's only first in 1:02.4. Anthony Badalamenti was second in the long jump at 19-10 1/4, as was the 4x400 team of Brizzolara, Josh Ohman, Frantzen and Simmons in 3:28.7 and Mark Korosec in the 1,600 in 4:46. Frantzen in the 110 hurdles (15.5), Andrew Krieger in the 100 dash (11.1) and Eric Douglas in the 3,200 (10:46.3) took third. Fourth was Evan Jones in the 3,200 (10:46.3), as were the sprint medley of Tim Gardner, Eric Schultz, Steve Snyder and Eric Shepard (1:42.3), 4x800 of Mark Korosec, Jones, Ohman and Matt Davis (8:37.5) and distance medley of Chris Denzinger, Ben Cech, Douglas and Davis (11:45.8). Dan Myers took fifth in the discus at 124-3, as did Badalamenti in the high jump at 5-6, while Rob Cooke was sixth in the pole vault at 9-6. Denzinger was seventh in the 1,600 in 5:07.3 and Dave Moore was eighth in the 100 dash in 11.8. No results were available from the triangular meet against West G. and Perry, and coach Mark Dingman could not be reached to comment on recent action. The boys will participate in the Division I district meet May 20 and 23 in Ravenna. Comments
