Boys tracksters claim own invitationalApril 30, 2008
by Ken Lahmers Editor Aurora -- The Greenmen boys track squad held off a tough challenge from Chagrin Falls to win the Aurora Invitational on April 25. Aurora compiled 126 points to Falls' 111. AHS was followed by Garrettsville Garfield, Ravenna, Streetsboro, West Geauga, Mogadore and Berkshire. Traditionally strong in relays, last week was no exception as the Greenmen took first in the 4x100 (44.48) and 4x200 (1:32.1) and second in the 4x400 (3:28.9) and 4x800 (8:25.4). Andrew Krieger, Jamaal Simmons, Dee Brizzolara and Anthony Badalamenti ran the 4x100. Krieger, Simmons, Brizzolara and Eric Shepard ran the 4x200. Running the 4x400 were Brizzolara, Josh Ohman, Frederick Frantzen and Zach Flowers. Running the 4x800 were Eric Douglas, Mark Korosec, Ohman and Matt Davis. Brizzolara placed first in the 300 hurdles (39.68), while Badalamenti was first in the high jump at 5-10. Other seconds for Aurora were Krieger in the 100 dash (11.28), Korosec in the 1,600 run (4:42.6), Frantzen in the 110 hurdles (15.55) and Badalamenti in the long jump (20-10). Third were Simmons in the 110 hurdles (15.57), Frantzen in the 300 hurdles (41.42) and Korosec in the 800 (2:05.9). Fourth were Rob Cooke in the pole vault (9-0), Ohman in the 800 (2:08) and Eric Schultz in the 100 dash (11.71). Fifth were Chris Denzinger in the 1,600 (4:53.8), Evan Jones in the 3,200 (11:01) and Shepard in the pole vault (8-0), while sixth was Shepard in the 400 dash (55.12). The Greenmen will compete in the Orange Relays on May 2 and will travel to Perry on May 6 for a triangular which also includes West Geauga.
