AHS student captures Rotary speech contest Aurora High School student Annick Dall is Rotary District 6630's winner of the Rotary 4-Way Test speech competition, which took place April 12 at Beachwood High School. Dall's speech was titled "I Believe in Neverland" and it focused on hope today's time. She competed against all of the District 6630 clubs, which included 30 high schools. She earned a $500 cash prize and the opportunity to give her speech at the Rotary District 6630 conference May 16 to 18 at the Bertram Inn in Aurora. Dall's father, Glenn, said she plans to attend New York University. AHS's drama students stage 'Grease' 3 days Three performances of the production "Grease" will be offered April 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. and April 27 at 2 p.m. in Aurora High School's auditorium. Tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $3 for students. It is presented in cooperation with Samuel French Inc. KSU prepares for 38th anniversary of May 4 "Where Does It End?" is the theme of the 38th commemoration of the May 4, 1970 shooting at Kent State University planned for May 3 and 4. Events, which are free and open to the public, kick off at 7 p.m. May 3 with Vietnam War veteran and peace activist Ron Kovic introducing a screening of his autogiographical film "Born on the Fourth of July." A candlelight march will be from 11 to midnight. Music on May 4 will be at 11 a.m. by the Tropidelic Band, and the commemoration will be at 2 p.m. in front of Taylor Hall. Speakers include Scott Ritter, a former United Nations weapons inspector; the family of William Kunstler, attorney for the families of the May 4 victims; wounded students Dean Kahler and Joe Lewis; and Kovic. Many language camps available this summer Language camps are available during the summer for budding linguists, according to local schools' guidance departments. Camp OFLA is available to children who are entering grade 4 to those who have completed grade 6. The Ohio Foreign Language Association offers a one-week camp in German, Chinese, Arabic or Russian from June 8 to 14. A flier is available at www.ofla.online.org. For 11th- and 12th-graders, two Ohio Regents Academies are available that provide summer intensive classes that yield dual credit.
